Professional Interests
Regarding teaching and learning, my career has been dedicated to helping learners be independent taking personal responsibility for as much of their present and future learning as possible. At the educational program level, this translates into perceiving educational needs, designing new initiatives, securing necessary resources, and assuring continued maintenance. Currently, the major focus of my research efforts is in building research capacity in primary care. This is "lived out" on a one-to-one basis with individual researchers and in directing the Ohio State Primary Care Research Institute. I am in the process of better understanding community-engaged research in relation to healthier communities.
