Professional Interests
As a rural family physician since 1982, and now Program Director of The Ohio State University Rural Program, a “2-2-2” integrated rural training track for predoctoral and residency education, I am intrigued by the relationship between theory and practice, between academic rigor and practical knowledge, between evidence-based medicine and clinical artistry. My academic goals are to continue and enlarge the legacy of the general practitioner and personal physician. My special interests include reflective practice, family-oriented practice (especially perinatal care), rural medical education, community-anchored medical education, microfinance, medical ethics, information technology at the point-of-care, and digital photography.
