Professional Interests
Leon McDougle, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Family Medicine, is the 1st Chief Diversity Office for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In this new role he leads initiatives to improve workforce diversity, inclusion/climate, and cultural competency across the academic health center to advance health equity. Dr. McDougle has also served as a family physician on the Near Eastside of Columbus since 2001 and believes that lifestyle must be a focus of both the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. In addition, he serves as the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Diversity & Inclusion National Chair. Dr. McDougle’s research is focused on health empowerment technology for older African Americans and workforce diversity and inclusion.
