Professional Interests
As Director of the Patient Centered Medicine course, I have a strong interest in developing a curriculum of excellence in the behavioral and social sciences. I believe it is important to use innovative teaching methods to enhance students’ personal and professional development, and to design learning environments that mirror the complexity of clinical practice. My research interests are in the areas of health communication and behavioral health. Specifically, my research focuses on activating patients through patient communication training interventions, as well as testing patient and health care provider interventions to improve cancer-related health outcomes.
