The April 15, 2012 issue of American Family Physician carried an article entitled, “Common Finger Fractures and Dislocations,” (Vol. 85, No. 8) that was prepared by Dr. Jim Borchers, Associate Professor of Clinical Family Medicine and Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship, and Dr. Tom Best, Professor of Family Medicine and Pomerene Chair as well as Co-Director of the Ohio State Sports Medicine Program. Drs. Borchers and Best provide a very nice overview including physical and radiographic examination, types of dislocations and fractures, management in the family physician’s office, and referral as necessary to a hand specialist.
