Professional Interests
Leon McDougle, MD, MPH, Professor of Family Medicine with tenure, is the 1st Chief Diversity Office for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In this role he leads initiatives to improve workforce diversity, inclusion/climate, and cultural competency across the academic health center to advance health equity. Dr. McDougle has also served as a family physician on the Near Eastside of Columbus since 2001 and believes that lifestyle must be a focus of both the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. In addition, he serves as faculty for the the Association of American Medical Colleges Healthcare Executive Diversity & Inclusion Certificate (HEDIC) progam, the Minority Faculty Leadership Seminar, and he is former Chair of the Group on Diversity and Inclusion (GDI). Dr. McDougle’s research is focused diversity and inclusion and eliminating health disparities.
